Noah Carl: “Should We Legalise Polygamy?”

January 22, 2013 @ 19:30 - 21:00

As for the writing a descriptive essay, you have to choose the most accurate materials at https://writingscentre.com/perfect-descriptive-essay/ first.

Third meeting of the Hayek Discussion Group this academic year will take place on Tuesday, 22 January (7:30pm) in Christ Church (room to be confirmed). (Facebook event.)

Speaker:
Noah Carl – MSc student in Sociology.

Topic:
“Should We Legalise Polygamy?”

Abstract:
Laws proscribing polygamy interfere with individuals’ freedom to marry one another on their own terms. However, in this talk I will take a consequentialist perspective, arguing in support of such laws. The argument will draw upon material from sociology, evolutionary biology, paleo-archeology and genetics. I hope to engender a discussion about the limits on personal freedoms.

We are still accepting submissions for this year’s Hayek Discussion Group – for more information please visit: https://oxfordhayek.org.uk/hayek-discussion-group/
